Hi! I am Ayezza. The brand name brod simply means “bread” in Norwegian. I chose this name after recalling the many memorable pastries I enjoyed during my time in Norway, which inspired me to adopt the Norwegian translation.
The business itself began just last year, during a period when I was waiting for my visa to Norway and looking for a meaningful way to be productive while earning independently. I decided to focus on pastries because of my background at home. My mother is a chef, and during the pandemic, when she was unable to return to work, our family relied on selling pastries as a source of income. This experience played a signifcant role in sustaining us during that time.
In fact, baking has long been an important part of my life. When I was in high school, the income my mother earned from selling pandesal and ensaymada in Norway was used to help pay for my tuition. Because of this, baking became more than just a hobby; it became a meaningful and valuable skill.
Initially, I began baking simply because I missed my mother’s recipes. However, with encouragement from friends at church, I decided to start selling my pastries. From there, the business gradually grew into what it is today.
